The LFP disciplinary committee delivered its verdicts this Wednesday, with direct consequences following the match between Amiens SC and Montpellier Hérault SC. The Ligue 2 BKT encounter, won 2-0 by Montpellier on Friday, April 24, 2026, was marred by incidents involving Amiens supporters, leading to severe sanctions for the Picardy club.
Indeed, Amiens SC's next home match, scheduled for this weekend (May 2) against Red Star, will be held entirely behind closed doors. This decision follows the use and throwing of pyrotechnic devices by Amiens supporters, which had caused a temporary interruption of play during the reception of Montpellier at the Stade de la Licorne.
The sanction is immediate and also includes the closure of the North stand of the Stade de la Licorne for one match, in addition to the full closed-door measure. These steps aim to suppress dangerous behavior and ensure safety in stadiums, a hot topic regularly addressed by the committee.
Beyond the consequences for Amiens and indirectly for Montpellier, other important decisions were announced. In Ligue 1 McDonald’s, Gonçalo Ramos of Paris Saint-Germain received a one-match firm suspension, coupled with a suspended match, after his expulsion against Angers.
Pierre Lees-Melou of Paris FC also received a one-match firm suspension following his dismissal. Several other Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 players were sanctioned with a firm one-match suspension for accumulation of yellow cards or revocation of a suspended sentence, effective from Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
Among them are Kenny Lala (Stade Brestois 29), Mamadou Sangaré (RC Lens), Mario Sauer (Toulouse FC), and Adrien Thomasson (RC Lens) in Ligue 1. In Ligue 2, Allan Ackra (Clermont Foot 63) was suspended for three firm matches, while Demba Thiam (US Boulogne CO) received two matches.
These decisions underscore the committee's firmness in addressing infractions, whether they concern player behavior on the field or supporter conduct in the stands, as was the case during Montpellier's trip to Amiens.
