A rape investigation has been opened in Montpellier after a 52-year-old woman reported being raped. National police identified and arrested a 46-year-old man. The incident occurred in the early hours of June 2. The woman was found disoriented and distressed by a couple who contacted the police. She reported being raped and having her phone stolen. The police investigation established that she had met the man earlier in the evening. The two had walked together before going to a shop to buy some items. To speed up the investigation, the police asked the CSU (urban supervision center) of Montpellier to use the city's video surveillance system to track the couple's movements. This led to a precise description of the man. The investigation led to the arrest of a 46-year-old man who was identified as the person who had been with the woman earlier in the evening.
